My name is Heman Au (he-min ow). Thank you for stopping by! I am an industrial designer with a mechanical engineering background who is passionate about enriching people’s lives through thoughtful designs and delightful experiences. I love tackling complex problems and collaborating with cross functional teams to come up with simple yet thoughtful solutions. I have a natural curiosity for how things work and I look to learn something new with every project I embark upon. Here you will find a small sample of my work. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did working on them.

I am very fortunate to have had a very diverse background and to have worked in places like SF, Seattle, and Boston. For 3 years, I served as the industrial design lead on multiple products at GoPro, managing and executing industrial design efforts through each stage of the product development cycle. I also have 7 years of consulting experience working for myself and at world renowned agencies like Frog Design where I aided in the design and development of numerous industrial, medical, and consumer products from concept to production for a wide range of clients. I also have 8 years of mechanical engineering experience which provided me with an understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and engineering constraints.

I love learning new things, adventuring to new places, and trying different cuisines. If I have to eat one type of food for the rest of life, it would be Japanese. I love spending time outdoors with my family. I secretly dream about being a farmer and living off of the land. These days, my adventures involve sailing on a pirate ship with my daughter in search of Peter Pan (aka her little brother). I’m currently a principal designer at Owlet Baby Care providing parents with a peace of mind and helping keep their little ones healthy and safe.
